01 — The challenge
Every tournament started from a blank sheet.
A club can run a good tournament on paper — once. Do it every month and the same evening repeats: chase registrations on WhatsApp, draw groups, type fixtures, keep scores by hand and work out the standings afterwards. Nothing carries over, and nobody watching knows where the table stands until it is over.
The founder's brief asked for the lifecycle, not a scoreboard: setup, registration, groups, fixtures, live scoring, standings — in a few guided steps.
02 — What we built
The lifecycle in one portal, the community in one app.
The organiser portal went live on 24 July 2026 with the full lifecycle and a public share link per tournament, so registration and spectating need no app install. Three tournaments ran on it in its first five weeks.
By the end of August the public side — players, venue partners, brands — had outgrown the organiser's bundle. In one afternoon it was split onto its own address and repository, sharing the backend and database, with the tournament bundle 28 percent lighter for it. The booking engine holds a court under a row lock so two people cannot book the same slot, and the Android shell wraps the same app.
03 — The results
Three tournaments, twenty-eight teams, one link each.
By 31 August 2026 the portal had run three tournaments — a warm-up with 6 teams, a second season with 10 and a completed 12-team event — 28 teams registered through share links rather than chats. Standings were live for everyone on the roof.
The organiser's evening of sheets is gone. What replaced it is a club that can announce the next event with a link.
